Everyone's watching and has felt the immense positive vibration that's consuming our nation. The clear anticipation of
what our country is capable of, moving forward. When President Obama walks in and delivers his Inauguration speech and begins
to talk with the nation, saying he's "humbled, grateful and mindful," we can believe the sincerity of his words, by his actions
and the love he shows his family.
Some of our leaders in the past forty years, made decisions not fully realizing the detrimental effects that political
wars, pollution and lack of appropriate funding for education and healthcare, among other things had on our families. At the
end of the day, most politicians and CEO's go home to their families. Will their daily decisions moving forward, benefit our
health and well-being as families?
"We all need to end the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long
have strangled our politics."
Those that are still locked up in the archaic power struggles that use age, race and gender as deterrents, need to open
their eyes and look at our country. Realizing that everyone working together offers knowledge and productive ideas that separately
would not develop, to the greatness that together we can accomplish. Looking at each other as human beings first, people with
hearts and souls, people that deserve and show respect for each other.
"Protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions - that time has surely passed."
America received the wake up call in the 1970's during the first oil embargo, but what did the U.S. automakers do for the
past three decades? Do you wonder why the auto manufacturers were more interested in fuel guzzling and not fuel-efficient?
Ironic that GM is down 40% this year and Toyota is the number one auto-maker in the world.
Why did our government not invest in solar power in the 70's when we could see the advantages? Instead we continue adding
outrageous amounts of pollution from fossil fuels and chemical byproducts to our air and water, downgrading the quality, that's
responsible for cancers, mercury poisoning and childhood asthma and emphysema.
Every time America had that ahh ha moment, the wake up call to what we should be doing to correct these issues, we did
nothing. Who's special interests were being served and who's paying for it now?
The more open and honest our perspectives are, the greater our ability to achieve and sustain. Without the truth you have
nothing to build upon. Without the truth our markets crumbled and our creditability crashed as a country.
"People will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and
deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you
are willing to unclench your fist."
These words speak to the world as we evolve as a peace loving nation, but we need to exert these same virtues in our own
country and stop domestic, child and gang violence. Violence has to end and education needs to stimulate and develop the minds
of our people with awareness. Getting to know the people around you and putting yourself in their shoes. Understanding why
they do the things they do, so we can begin to help each other.
"But those values upon which our success depends - hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity,
loyalty and patriotism."
President Obama's first day in office shows that he's changing the template for the future with these initial changes.
As of today, lobbyists will be subject to stricter limits than under any other administration in history. The restrictions
include a ban on gifts by lobbyists to anyone serving in the administration. Closing Guantanamo Bay within a year and new
ethics rules for his administration, are examples moving forward. We need to be right there with him maintaining integrity
as the main building block for our country's foundation, with decisions based on truth, sincerity and compassion.
